What GhostedByVC is for

GhostedByVC is an invite-only, pseudonymous community where founders document how a VC process actually ended, including when a fund went silent ("ghosted"). The value is honest, first-hand, factual accounts tied to a specific fund. Each account pairs a few structured facts — how far the process got, the outcome, a rough timeline — with the story in the poster's own words.

Reading is open to anyone with no account. Posting, voting, and reporting require an account obtained through an invite code.

What's allowed

• Your own first-hand experience of a VC fund's process: outreach, meetings, diligence, term-sheet stage, and how it concluded (ghosted, slow no, rejection, still waiting, and so on).
• Fund-level accounts — naming the fund is expected and fine; the fund is selected from the directory.
• Verifiable, factual statements about what happened to you ("Fund X stopped replying after the partner meeting").
• Honest opinion clearly framed as opinion ("In my experience the process felt disorganized") — as distinct from a stated fact about a specific person.

What's not allowed

• Defamation. Do not post false statements of fact that damage a person's or firm's reputation. Stick to what you personally experienced and can stand behind.
• Knowingly false or fabricated claims, exaggeration of facts, or invented events.
• Harassment, threats, or incitement against any person or firm.
• Doxxing or personal data. No private contact details, home addresses, personal phone numbers or emails, family information, or other personal data about anyone — whether about another member or about a VC. (A member may, however, voluntarily publish their own opt-in contact handle on their own profile — sharing how to reach them; posting anyone else's private contact details, a member's or a VC's, remains prohibited.)
• Naming individuals casually. Default to the fund, not the person (see below).
• Impersonation of another person, founder, or fund.
• Spam, promotion, or off-topic content unrelated to documenting a VC process.
• Illegal content or content that infringes others' rights (for example, pasting confidential documents you are not free to share).

When in doubt, describe what happened to you and let the fund, not a named individual, carry the account.

Naming individuals — policy

The strong default is fund-level, not person-level, and the product is built around it:

• A post that names a specific individual is hidden by default — the named person is shown to every reader as "a partner."
• Any post that names an individual is routed to an admin review queue and is not published until an admin acts. A name is revealed only if an admin explicitly decides to, and every reveal is recorded in an append-only audit log.

The bar we apply before revealing a named individual, or before publishing a named-individual post at all:

1. Is it about conduct, not the person? Naming someone should add nothing a fund-level account couldn't carry, unless the individual's specific conduct is genuinely the point.
2. Is it a verifiable statement of fact, or clearly-framed opinion? Factual claims about a named person carry the most risk. Vague, unverifiable, or opinion-as-fact statements about a named person are not revealed.
3. Is it first-hand? The account should be the poster's own direct experience, not second-hand or rumor.
4. Is it proportionate and necessary? Even if true, we ask whether naming the individual is necessary or gratuitous. We bias toward withholding the name.
5. No private or personal data about the individual beyond their professional role at the named fund.

Revealing a name is the rare exception, not the norm.

Removal grounds

A post may be removed if it:

• violates any "What's not allowed" rule above;
• is the subject of a credible takedown or correction request we accept (see the Takedown Process);
• names an individual and does not meet the bar above;
• contains doxxing, personal data, threats, or harassment; or
• is spam, impersonation, or off-topic.

A member who repeatedly violates this policy may be banned. Banning gates the account; on its own it does not unpublish that author's already-published posts — those are handled per-post on their own grounds.

Reporting, appeals, and non-users

• Members can report a post; reports go to an admin queue where an admin can dismiss it, remove the post, or ban the author.
• A banned member can appeal (one open appeal at a time, reviewed by an admin).
• Anyone — including a named individual with no account — can request removal or correction through our Takedown Process.
