Takedown & Correction Process
If you believe a post on GhostedByVC is false, defamatory, contains personal data about you, or otherwise should be removed or corrected, you can ask us to review it — whether or not you have an account.
Who this is for
Anyone, including:
- a VC or fund partner who is named (or referred to as "a partner") in a post,
- a fund or firm,
- a member, or
- someone with no account at all.
You do not need to be a member to make a request.
How to request removal or correction
Use the takedown request form. It takes anyone — no account required — and routes your request to our grievance officer. You can also write to takedown@ghostedbyvc.com.
What to include
To let us act quickly and in good faith, please include:
- A link to (or description of) the post — and, if a specific line is the problem, quote it.
- Who you are in relation to the post — e.g. "I am the partner referred to," "I represent Fund X," or "this post contains my personal data." You may otherwise remain anonymous; we collect no more than we need (see our Privacy Notice).
- The basis for your request, for example:
- the statement is factually false (please say which part),
- it is defamatory,
- it contains personal or private data (doxxing),
- it is harassment or a threat, or
- other (describe).
- Evidence of falsity, where you're asserting something is untrue — a timeline, correspondence, or public record helps us assess it. This is optional but significantly speeds a good-faith review. Please don't send sensitive documents you aren't comfortable sharing; we don't require them.
- A contact we can reply to. We use it only to handle your request.
A complete request — what the post is, a clear basis, and (where relevant) evidence of falsity — can be acted on fastest.
What happens next
- Acknowledge: within 72 hours of receiving a complete request — we confirm we have it and may ask for anything missing.
- Decide: within 7 days of a complete request — we either remove or correct the content, explain why we are not, or set out what more we need.
- Urgent categories — doxxing or personal data, a credible threat, or content targeting a private individual — are triaged faster.
These are good-faith targets for a small operator and may not be met in every case; nothing here is a contractual guarantee.
How we handle requests (good faith)
- We review every complete request on its merits against our Content Policy.
- We bias toward caution on named individuals. If a post names (or hints at) a specific person and there is a credible dispute about accuracy, our default is to hide the name or withhold the post while we assess — consistent with our "names hidden by default" design.
- We may remove, correct or annotate, re-hide a name, or decline with a brief reason.
- We do not disclose the reporter's or poster's identity to each other. Posters are pseudonymous; we hold no real-name or contact data for them (see our Privacy Notice).
- Acting on a request is not an admission of liability; declining is not an endorsement of the content. We aim to run a fair, fast, good-faith process.
- Abuse of this process — for example, mass false takedown demands to silence true accounts — may be declined.
Counter-notice / the poster's side
If a post is removed and the poster believes that was a mistake:
- Members who are banned can file an appeal in the app (one open appeal at a time, reviewed by an admin).
- Per-post disputes: reply to the removal notice or write to the takedown contact, explaining why the post is accurate and should be restored.
Final decisions on publication and removal rest with us under the Content Policy.
